TNT survives Meralco sans import

TNT heavily relied on their team chemistry to bounce back in their second game.

The locals’ balance scoring proved to be lethal as the Meralco Bolts failed to capitalize on the import-less TNT, 92-90, despite the all-around performance from their import Allen Durham at the Ynares Center on Sunday.

Down at 82-85 with 1:45 left under the clock, TNT’s Jayson Castro got the lucky bounce on a triple to tie the game.

After a couple of stops from the fastbreak by TNT, RR Pogoy and Terrence Romeo dropped straight points via floater and three point basket respectively to put them in the driver’s seat with less than 20 seconds to go, 90-85.

Castro would sink a pair of free throws to seal the deal for the Katropa, although Durham decided to bury a three point shot at the buzzer, 92-90.

TNT decided to go all-Filipino, as import Mike Glover was relieved off his duty due to underwhelming performance during their opening match against NLEX.

Romeo led TNT once again with 23 points, 10 assists, and a couple of rebounds short of tallying a triple-double. Pogoy would contribute 19 markers while Castro provided 16 points.

Reigning best import Durham powered Meralco in a losing effort, finishing with 27 points, 22 boards, and 8 dimes. Baser Amer scored 18 points while Newsome had 10.
