TNT Tropang 5G has brought in American forward Nicholas Julian “Nick” Hornsby as its temporary import for the resumption of the PBA Season 50 Governors’ Cup.

TNT team manager Jojo Lastimosa confirmed that Hornsby will suit up for the Tropang 5G while regular import Rondae Hollis-Jefferson continues his recovery from injury.

“RHJ still in recovery. He’s still there,” Lastimosa said in a message to Fastbreak.

Lastimosa explained that TNT wants to give Hollis-Jefferson enough time to fully recover from his Achilles rather than rush him back into action.

“Yes. We want to make sure Rondae in full strength that he’s not coming back too soon,” he added.

Hornsby, a 6-foot-7 forward, joins TNT after playing for Hangtuah Jakarta in the Indonesian Basketball League. He previously saw action in Germany, Israel, Canada and Mexico during his professional career.

The Sacramento State product went undrafted in 2017 before beginning his professional career with the Giessen 46ers in Germany.

Hornsby is the defending champions Tropang 5G’s third import after starting the conference with Darius Days and Rondae’s brother Rahlil. They will resume their campaign with a 4-4 mark. (Adrian Co)
