Trail Blazers’ Jusuf Nurkic suffers gruesome leg injury
Portland Trail Blazers center Jusuf Nurkic had to be stretchered out of the game after suffering a devastating lower left leg injury during the second overtime against the Brooklyn Nets on Tuesday (Manila time).
The Bosnian big man was fighting for an offensive rebound and fell awkwardly after stepping on Jared Dudley’s foot during the second OT.
Nurkic was seen to be in total agony as both teams stood by watching in horror. The players couldn’t really look at Nurkic as the leg is almost dislocated. The medical staff of the Blazers urgently helped Nurkic and stretchered him out of the court immediately.
As per some initial reports, Nurkic suffered a compound fracture but the extent of the injury has not yet been fully diagnosed. Further details will be announced soon after the medical results are out.
Unfortunately, Nurkic will most likely be done for the season. He is averaging a career-high 15.4 points, 10.3 rebound, 3.2 assist with him hammering a double-double output in their game against the Nets with 32 points and 16 rebounds. Fortunately, the Blazers took the victory 148-144. (Janiel Abby Toralba)
