US President Donald Trump has said he would grant Dennis Rodman and Enes Kanter Freedom a full pardon to allow them to enter WNBA.
In a speech, Trump said he would give the former NBA players permission to compete in women sports and predicted they would break records.
“I’m giving them a full pardon that they can go into women’s sports any time they want & I guarantee that when they do, they will break — even though they’re older, although Freedom looks like he’s pretty young — they will break every record in the history of women’s sports.”
The reported remarks have drawn attention because of the ongoing debate in the United States over transgender participation and eligibility rules in women sports.
Rodman, a five-time NBA champion and Basketball Hall of Famer, played professionally for 14 seasons.
Freedom, formerly known as Enes Kanter, played 11 NBA seasons and has been outspoken on political and social issues since leaving the league. (Adrian Co)
