‘Tuloy Ang UAAP’ UAAP volleyball to push through despire NCOV scare
The opening of the UAAP Season 82 Collegiate Volleyball tournament this weekend at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City will still push through despite the novel coronavirus (nCoV) scare.
Other leagues like the PBA and other events from NCAA announced that they will be suspending other games for safety measures.
However, UAAP Executive Director Atty. Rebo Saguisag addressed that the first-ever volleyball games in Season 82 will still go on during the press conference on Tuesday at the MOA Arena.
“As we speak, all systems go. We are prepared to face this situation but at the moment, as we speak, tuloy tayo,” Saguisag assured.
“Rest assured that the UAAP is committed to ensuring the safety of our student-athletes, the coaches, and the officials.”
This will be the first time that UAAP will follow an alternating division schedule, which will give the men’s volleyball a much-needed exposure after their historic silver-finish at the 2019 Southeast Asian (SEA) Games.
The men’s showdown between University of the East and University of the Philippines would be the season’s opening rites on Saturday at 9 a.m., to be followed by their women’s counterpart at 11 a.m.
The last season’s runner-up in men’s division FEU will square off against UST at, while the women’s division of FEU will take on the Season 82 bridesmaid UST.
N.U and Adamson will clash this Sunday, while the archrivals Ateneo and La Salle will be main-eventing the season opener.
