U22 Azkals bow to East Timor

The Philippines ended up with the wooden spoon in Group A of the AFF U22 Youth Championship in Phnom Penh, Cambodia after being shut out by East Timor by a lone goal in their final match.

Mouzinho’s 64th minute strike off a Nelson Viegas feed from inside the box was the lone difference in the dead rubber between the two sides who were already eliminated from semifinal contention three days ago.

The loss wound up Bob Salvacion’s campaign in the tournament with a winless record, losing all their three matches and conceded six straight goals after taking the lead in their opener.

Vietnam took the top spot in the group on a better goal difference after a goalless stalemate with Thailand which put them both on seven points in the group stage. (Kevin Estrada)
