UFC star Connor McGregor admits drinking whiskey for weeks before Khabib Nurmagomedov defeat
Conor McGregor is a bad man, but now he is trying to right all of his wrongs.
The UFC star admitted that he was downing whiskey the “whole week” just days before his defeat against Khabib Nurmagomedov in UFC 229.
Before the infamous brawl took place in Las Vegas, McGregor was succumbed to a choke hold against Khabib in the fourth round of the contest on October 2018.
The Irish striker confessed that he has been intoxicated during the build-up of the fight.
“I was drinking all bleeding fight week,’ he told ESPN. “I had venom in me or something.”
“I wasn’t doing what I should have been doing; I’ve made mistakes and I’ve been man enough to admit them.”
McGregor will make his return in the octagon against Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone on Saturday (Sunday, Manila Time).
The 31-year old continued to admit his wrongdoings as well, also pertaining to his 2019 court case when he punched a man in an unprovoked attack.
If I’m in the wrong, I’m in the wrong,’ he continued. ‘I let people down and that’s it. I’m in a position where I must take control of things and not shy away.
“I’ve never done that in my career and I never will; the people who believe in me and support me deserve better.”
