Rising Fil-Aussie MMA prospect Josh “Kuya” Culibao is aware he is being thrust in front of a bigger audience with his inclusion in his second pay-per-view event in UFC 284.
He did not disappoint as he submitted Armenian Melsik Baghdasaryan in two rounds in front of a jampacked crowd at the RAC Arena in Perth, Australia, over the weekend.
But Culibao’s next-level ambition is to be able to meet his boyhood idol in the flesh.
“I wish to train with Manny Pacquiao,” he told a handful of sports scribes online, days before UFC 284.
“That’s the next level thing I could hope for.”
Like most Filipinos, Culibao is a huge fan of the Filipino boxing legend.
Culibao is so aware that the retired former 8-division boxing champ is now more focused on doing exhibition matches that he offered to give MMA tips to Pacquiao.
“I can give him MMA tips, then he can teach me boxing tricks,” said the 28-year-old son of Filipino immigrants.
