COLE Micek continued to strengthen his case as one of the best Filipino-American players currently outside the PBA after putting on another impressive performance for the Macau Black Knights at the Asian Tournament on Thursday night.
Micek erupted for 22 points on an efficient 75 percent shooting clip, showcasing the scoring ability that has made him one of the more intriguing Fil-Am players on the international basketball scene.
The performance comes as Micek continues to build his career outside the PBA despite having multiple opportunities to enter the league.
Micek was selected by the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters in the recent PBA Rookie Draft but ultimately was not signed by the team. He also received an opportunity to try out for the San Miguel Beermen but failed to secure a contract.
Micek was later expected to suit up for PBA guest team Macau Black Knights/Giant Pandas, but the league reportedly did not allow him to play because of his Filipino-American status.
Rather than let the setbacks derail his career, Micek has continued to play internationally while also preparing to compete in 3×3 basketball.
For now, Micek continues to make his case on the court — one strong performance at a time. (Adrian Co)
