Unfamiliarity with each other almost costs La Salle’s victory against NU

La Salle was almost on its way to their victory of the season, as they had a 14-point advantage in the late period.

Suddenly, Shaun Ildefonso came to the rescue for Bulldogs with a 16-1 explosion that saw the Taft-based troops being down at 81-82 with less than 30 seconds on the clock.

“One thing we can’t really address at this moment is we’re inexperienced as a team,” said La Salle head coach Gian Nazario.

“As you know, we’re a new staff, we’re a new team. When a team like that rattles you a lot, yung familiarity will always be the advantage.”

Fortunately for the Green Archers, transferee Kurt Lojera was at the right place and at the right time when he buried a go-ahead jumper with 14.9 ticks remaining, and that shot would officially give them their first victory this Season 82.

“It showed in the last quarter na we were rattled good thing we were able to push through. Kurt was able to make a jumper on the short corner,” Nazario explained.

Aside from Lojera, Baltazar also had a great outing of 23 points while Jamie Orme-Malonzo chalked up 14 points and 11 rebounds.

For the La Salle mentor, this kind of situation will benefit them in other games to come.

“We just want to get better. It was a good learning experience for us,” Nazario shared.
