UP repeats comeback game over Adamson
UP knows how to close out games!
The Fighting Maroons orchestrated a huge comeback which ultimately led to an 81-77 cardiac victory over the Adamson Soaring Falcons in the UAAP Season 82 men’s basketball tournament at the Ynares Center on Sunday October 20.
UP placed themselves again in solo second spot with a 7-5 record.
Adamson owned a 12-point cushion with almost three minutes removed from the final canto thanks to Joem Sabandal’s triple, 72-60.
UP smelled danger quickly and responded with a 16-2 blitz to grab the 76-74 lead.
Jerom Lastimosa threatened UP with his triple but Kobe Paras answered with a triple of his own with 1:25 remaining in the game.
Akhuetie then sealed the deal for the Fighting Maroons by hitting two free throws, while Falcons failed to inch closer when it mattered most, 81-77.
To sum it all, UP ignited a 21-5 rally to steal the game.
“The most important aspect of this is that although this is a big win for us, we still need to focus on the next because if not, this will be all for naught,” said UP head coach Bo Perasol.
Paras showed up with 21 points five rebounds, three blocks, and two assists while Jun Manzo wound up 17 markers, seven boards, and three dimes.
Juan Gomez de Liaño chipped 15 points, four rebounds, and two assists while Akhuetie filled the stat sheets with 12 markers, 12 boards, and six dimes.
Meanwhile, Adamson dropped their record at 4-7.
Val Chauca led Adamson with 19 points, but was only held to just two points in second half.
