UP staged a comeback against FEU in Game 1
The University of the Philippines completed a comeback against Far Eastern University, 14-25, 22-25, 26-24, 25-18, 15-5 in the Game 1 of the best-of-three finals series in the Premier Volleyball League Collegiate Conference battle at the FilOil Flying V Arena in San Juan on Sunday.
Down 0-2, UP was able to steal the third and fourth set in their favor, which forced FEU to press the panic button.
However, UP would use their momentum to cruise an 8-3 lead in the deciding set, as they would upset the UAAP Season 80 bridesmaid in the process.
“That was very, very close, again I just told them that we needed two things. One the pass, and, second less pressure on ourselves,” UP head coach Godfrey Okumu said.
Isa Molde paced UP with 16 points while Roselyn Rosier had 15 markers for the Lady Maroons.
Heather Guino-O led FEU with 17 points on a losing effort.
UP will have the chance to claim their first title since 1982 once they close out Game 2 on Wednesday at the same venue.
