UP’s Bright Akhuetie takes home MVP award
Bright Akhuetie continues to make history in UAAP.
Only his first season, the Nigerian bruiser from UP was hailed as Season 81’s MVP – the first Maroon since Eric Altamirano won the coveted plum 21 years ago.
Akhuetie finished the elimination round with a total of 82.50 Statistical Points (SPs), while also ended up with an averages of 18.9 points, 14.6 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 1.1 steals per game.
Not only that, Akhuetie also led UP their first Final four appearance since 1997.
Fellow UP teammate Juan Gomez De Liaño also joins the Mythical team member alongside UE’s Alvin Pasaol, La Salle’s Justine Baltazar, and Adamson’s Jerrick Ahanmisi.
Ateneo’s Angelo Kouame placed second in the MVP race with 76.21 SPs and a total averages of 14.4 points, 13.6 rebounds, and 3.2 blocks, although he will not make the Mythical team due to league-rule that only allows one foreign player to be included in the selection.
