UP’s ‘short-shorts’ fad just a wardrobe mishap
UP Fighting Maroons went old school with their shorts.
The Diliman-based squared garnered a lot of attention with their “short-shorts” uniform during their opening matchup against FEU Tamaraws on Wednesday.
However, it was a just a uniform mishap according to UP head coach Bo Perasol, and he also admitted that the 70s-inspired aparrel became a distraction for most of his players.
“That was a distraction for them in the beginning. I told them we have to go through that,” Perasol told reporters.
“Also, it was just a lapse.”
Fortunately, the Fighting Maroons were able to slither past the Tams with a 61-55 victory.
However, fans from Twitter would blew up the moment they saw UP’s unconventional shorts, and some of them were satisfied on what they saw.
Me: Wow short shorts! Grabe talaga ang @upmbt, trendsetters, nonconformists, siguro symbolic ito sa budget cuts sa UP or throwback sa 1986 championship
Coach Bo: There’s a misjudgment with the length, we’ll have a different set in the weekend
