Valdez feels lucky in eighth straight Finals appearance
Two-time league UAAP Srs. MVP Alyssa Valdez will play in her eighth straight UAAP Finals dating back to her sophomore year in UST high school.
This developed after she delivered one clutch play after another to lead Ateneo to a 25-19, 25-16, 25-22 win over UP Lady Maroons in their Final Four match over the weekend.
Valdez dropped 16 points off 14 kills and two blocks on top of five digs to book another UAAP Finals ticket.
“I’m so thankful that for the fifth time I’m entering into the Finals [with Ateneo]; with different teammates and different coaches. I’m just really lucky to be there again for the last time. I hope it will continue being like this [win],” said Valdez.
She knows, however, that the battle is far from over.
“It’s gonna be a big responsibility going into the Finals,” she added.

If NBA legend Kobe Bryant’s last career game was dubbed as Mamba Day, then the last UAAP game of the phenomenal Alyssa Valdez should also be dubbed as Phenom Day.
Queen Eagle Alyssa Valdez is nothing but thankful that her team was able to avenge its first round loss vs. La Salle in a thrilling five-set triumph over the weekend.
Ateneo, who finished undefeated last season for its second straight UAAP title, is far from perfect this year as far as Phenom Alyssa Valdez is concerned.
