Veterans Hontiveros, de Ocampo get max contracts
PBA old timers Dondon Hontiveros and Yancy de Ocampo inked one-year max contracts with their respective teams following Mark Caguioa’s enormous P10-M two-year extension with Ginebra.
In a report by Philstar, both Hontiveros and De Ocampo signed P5-M deals with Alaska and San Miguel, respectively where they will play for another year.
The 39-year-old Hontiveros is now on his fifth season with the Aces.
The Cebuana hotshot is hoping to hoist another championship trophy with Alaska which the Aces last won in the 2013 PBA Commissioner’s Cup against Barangay Ginebra.
He earlier earned his two titles with the San Miguel Beermen in 2005 and 2009.
De Ocampo, meanwhile, is aiming for his eight PBA championship before his retirement. Luckily for the 36-year-old big man, he will once again provide quality minutes off the bench for the powerhouse Beermen.
San Miguel copped two of the three championships last season.
It will be De Ocampo’s 15th season with the league since topping the 2002 PBA Draft after being drafted by the Fedex Express, now known as the Barako Bull Energy.
