Walang basagan ng trip! Ex-PBA star Mac Cardona swims in flooded QC street

Former PBA star Mac Cardona wading through floodwaters in Quezon City for a viral video.

FORMER PBA player Mac Cardona poked fun at the flooding along Gregorio Araneta Avenue in Quezon City by joking that he was undergoing “aqua training.”

Cardona shared a video on social media showing himself in the floodwater on Monday, August 17, wearing basketball gear as he waded through the submerged road.

“Coach Tab (Baldwin) dapat dito kayo nag aqua training. Hahaha joke lang coach tab for content only hahahaha,” the post accompanying the video said.

The former PBA player appeared to make the remark in jest, referencing ex-Ateneo de Manila University coach Tab Baldwin while using the flooded street as the setting for his lighthearted video.

The post drew attention online as it coincided with ongoing public discussion surrounding the deaths of Ateneo student-athletes Rene Clert “Bobet” Baterbonia and Divine Adili.

Baterbonia and Adili died during an off-campus team-building activity in Dipaculao, Aurora, on June 8. The incident involved a water-related activity reportedly referred to as “aqua training” and has since been the subject of several investigations.

Baldwin, who was Ateneo’s head coach at the time, has faced scrutiny in connection with the activity. The circumstances surrounding the deaths remain under investigation. (Adrian Co)
