Walker Scores 32, Boston Celtics Beat Phoenix Suns
Boston Celtics cruised to a wire-to-wire 99-86 win over Phoenix Suns in the 2020-2021 NBA Season on Thursday night (Friday in the Philippines) at the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts.
Kemba Walker led the win with 32 points, including five triples, while Jayson Tatum added 15 points, 11 rebounds and six assists as the Celtics moved up to a share of fifth spot in the East with 32-27.
Marcus Smart and Payton Pritchard chipped in 11 and 10 markers, respectively, while Tristan Thompson contributed 12 rebounds to go along with nine points for Boston.
Holding to a 26-21 lead after the first 12 minutes, the Celtics leaned on the hot hands of Walker and outside hits by Aaron Nesmith in the second period as the lead went up to 53-37 at the half.
More convesions from Walker in the third period allowed the Celtics lead to reach 59-41 but a counter attack by the Suns trimmed the deficit to 82-72
Phoenix pulled even closer at 90-81 late in the fourth period but two free throws and a triple by Tatum followed by a layup by Smart sealed the win for Boston.
Chris Paul finished with 22 points, eight rebounds and eight assists, while Mikal Bridges and Devin Booker added 15 markers apiece as the Suns dropped to 42-17.
