Golden State Warriors center Damian Jones has had surgery for a torn left pectoral muscle, the two-time NBA champions announced on Friday.
Golden State said in a statement that Jones had the operation on Wednesday. He is expected to begin rehabilitation in six weeks and the timetable for his return will be based on his progress.
Jones, 23, had started in 22 of the 24 games in which he appeared this season, averaging 5.4 points and 3.1 rebounds.
The third-year pro, who emerged as the Warriors’ starting center after the offseason departures of JaVale McGee, Zaza Pachulia and David West, was hurt in the Warriors 111-102 loss to the Pistons in Detroit on Saturday.
