Filipino billiards player James Aranas pulled off a golden break on Friday to tow the Philippines to the quarterfinal round of the World Cup of Pool on Friday in Spain.
Aranas, together with his doubles partner Johann Chua, got past Spanish tandem Jonas Souto and Jose Alberto Delgado, 7-2.
But it was Aranas’ golden break that punctuated the match in the ninth rack, seeing the nine ball drop into the corner pocket.

With the victory, the Pinoy tandem advanced to the quarterfinal round against the winner between the partners of Niels Feijen and Marc Bijsterbosch of the Netherlands and the Taiwanese tandem of Ko Pin-Yi and Ko Ping-Chung.
The quarterfinal match will take place on Saturday.
