WBSC: RP Blu Girls fall to China, hold on to 4th spot

The RP Blu Girls dealt Singapore an 8-1 beating before succumbing to the unbeaten China on Day 3 of the 2023 Women’s Softball Asia Cup in Incheon, South Korea.

Kikay Palma replaced starting pitcher Celyn Ojare in the second inning to limit the Singaporeans to just one hit for the rest of the game.

CJ Roa, Khrisia Cantor, Alaiza Talisik, Aliza Pichon, and Charlotte Sales all reached home plate for the BLU Girls’ 5-1 lead. Pichon, Sales, and Danica Aquino hiked this further to 8-1.

Against China, Ann Antolihao surrendered four runs as the Chinese gunned for an early 4-0 advantage.

The Pinays made it 4-1 in the fourth inning when Arianne Vallestero doubled to left field before being sent home by CJ Roa’s single.

The Blu Girls fought within 4-2 at the top of the sixth frame after Aquino scored on a throwing error.

But China got two runs from He Xiaoyan and Dong Zixuan and secured a 6-2 win.

The Blu Girls now hold a 4-2 record, just a game ahead of the fifth-placed host team, South Korea (3-3).
