Which PBA teams should pick up RR Garcia?
By Miles Morales
As a former UAAP MVP, it is very hard to believe that a talented scorer like RR Garcia isn’t included in any PBA team roster in the ongoing season.
Garcia’s fate seems to be laced with his college backcourt partner Terrence Romeo, who was traded by TNT to San Miguel the same time he was dropped from the KaTropa’s regular roster.
Garcia was one of the highly touted players to come out of the UAAP in 2013 when he was drafted sixth overall by Globalport.
Now that he’s not injured and is indeed up for grabs, which PBA teams should pick up garcia?
While crowd-darling Ginebra still has the duo of LA Tenorio and Scottie Thompson, the Gin Kings don’t have a steady back-up point guard who can run down the court at any given time.
Sol Mercado and Mark Caguioa are both fantastic players but they are both past their prime. Mercado is 34 while Caguioa is already 39.
With an intact roster filled with a mix of veteran and developing talents, the Alaska Aces have all the reason to believe that they can finally snatch that elusive championship trophy this year. But one thing is lacking for Aces in the past conference: firepower. Picking Garcia up will be a good thing for the Aces as he was pretty good three pointer shooter and can run the floor up and down. He can provide spark off the bench and will certainly give Alaska a much-needed lift when JVee Casio and Chris Banchero sits out.
Rain Or Shine
With Chris Tiu’s retirement, Rain or Shine just lost one of its most reliable creators. The Painters’ frontcourt rotation is solid with Raymund Almazan, Beau Belga, and Gabe Norwood. ROS will be needing Garcia’s marksmanship and creativity to score off the dribble to fill the void left by Tiu and Paul Lee’s departure.
