Paris Saint-Germain is reportedly stepping up its pursuit of Ferran Torres just after the Spanish international scored the winning goal that lifted Spain to the 2026 FIFA World Cup title.
Torres emerged as Spain’s hero in the World Cup final, coming off the bench to score the decisive goal in the 106th minute of extra time as La Roja defeated defending champion Argentina, 1-0, at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
His title-clinching strike has added to growing interest in the 26-year-old, with reports in Spain claiming PSG is in advanced talks with Torres over a potential move to the French capital.
FC Barcelona, Torres’ current team, now faces an important decision as he enters the final year of his contract. If no extension is agreed upon, he will be free to negotiate with foreign clubs beginning in January and could leave on a free transfer next summer.
Selling Torres during the current transfer window would allow Barcelona to receive a transfer fee rather than risk losing him without compensation.
The reigning La Liga champs signed Torres from Manchester City in January 2022. Since arriving at Barcelona, Torres has scored 65 goals and added 22 assists in 207 appearances across all competitions, including 41 goals in 140 La Liga matches. (AC)
