Rain or Shine Elasto Painters head coach Yeng Guiao lamented the cold shooting of his wards as the team continues to struggle in the ongoing William Jones Cup in Taiwan.
“It’s only now that our offense is clicking. I feel if we played this way at least during our first three games, we may have won at least one or two out of that,” Guiao said in a report from The Manila Times. “Somehow, we were also able to adjust to officiating here.”
Rain or Shine lost their first two games on blowouts. After that, they suffered heartbreaking defeats against the United Arab Emirates (73-71) and Qatar (93-86).
The Elasto Painters had to endure two overtime periods before hacking out a 98-90 win against Iran on Wednesday. However, they failed to sustain their momentum as they lost on Thursday against Anyang KGC of South Korea, 87-77.
With only two games left on their schedule, Guiao is hoping that they can put up a good fight in their remaining games.
“We hope we can give a good fight in our remaining games, though we just have to accept the fact that there really is such a thing as a period of adjustment,” the multi-titled coach added. “And the challenge of adjusting quickly was something we weren’t able to do.”
Rain or Shine will face Japan’s under-22 team on Saturday before wrapping up their Jones Cup campaign against the UC Irvine of California on Sunday.
There are no playoffs in the Jones Cup, and the number one team after the elimination round will be declared the champion. (MJD)
