‘You Can’t Stop Us’ Nike ad goes viral
Nike continued its stand on social justice and perseverance in sports with its latest ad called “You Can’t Stop Us”.
The video made its first appearance on the day of NBA return, where a dynamic split screen shows a footage of Black, White, Asian, Muslim, and LGBTQ+ athletes.
It also juxtaposed disabled and able-bodied athletes to further highlight the ad’s theme of inclusivity and diversity.
We’re never alone, and that is our strength,” said women soccer star Meghan Rapinoe who happened to be the ad’s narrator. “Because when we’re doubted, we’ll play as one. When we’re held back, we’ll go farther, and harder. If we’re not taken seriously, we’ll prove that wrong. And if we don’t fit the sport, we’ll change the sport.”
“You Can’t Stop Us” ad has garnered over 20 million view on Twitter alone and over 17 million on Youtube as of this writing.
Nothing can stop what we can do together. You can’t stop sport. Because #YouCantStopUs.

The video also showed the cancellation of organized sports around the world due to COVID-19 pandemic by showing the empty stadiums and closed arenas.
Then, it quickly transitioned to athletes kneeling during the National Anthem as well as notable personalities like LeBron James speaking up against racial injustices.
Numerous netizens had nothing but praise to the powerful Nike ad.
