Yulo, Diaz out, Pacman in as torchbearer in SEA Games
Philippines will boast its loaded athletes in this upcoming opening ceremony 30th Southeast Asian Games on November 30.
Although gold medalist gymnast Carlos Yulo begged off as the torchbearer, the eight-time division champion Manny Pacquiao will take his place, as well as the 2019 Women’s World Boxing Championships Nesthy Petecio.
Headlining as flagbearers are pole vaulter EJ Obiena, who became the first Filipino who qualified for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, as well as Eumir Felix Marcial who won a silver medal in 2019 Men’s World Boxing Championships.
Also joining as flagbearers are skateboarder Margielyn Didal (2018 Asian Games gold medalist), jiu-jitsu fighter Meggie Ochoa (gold medalist at 2018 World Jiu-Jitsu Championships) and judo fighter Kiyomi Watanabe (2018 Asian Games silver medalist).
Meanwhile, multi-medalist weightlifter Hildilyn Diaz also opted to join the opener in preparation for her upcoming competitions in the biennial event.
