Jaycee and Jayvee Marcelino have officially parted ways with the Zamboanga Master Sardines after three seasons in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL).
In separate social media posts over the weekend, the Marcelino twins expressed their gratitude to the Zamboanga team as they prepare to embark on the next chapter of their basketball journeys.
“Walang hanggang pasasalamat sa 3 taon nating pag sasama Zambonga Family’s/Master Sardines! On to the next ➡️,” Jaycee wrote.
“Tubong Olongapo ngunit naging Pusong Zamboanga sa loob ng tatlong taon! Muchisimas Gracias Zamboanga 🫡💚 #ToBeContinued… 🔜,” stated Jayvee.
The twins joined Zamboanga City in 2022 and played a pivotal role in the team’s runner-up finish that season.
Jayvee stood out individually, earning the 2022 MPBL Season MVP and MPBL All-Star MVP honors.
However, the 2024 MPBL season ended in disappointment for Zamboanga, as they were eliminated in the Southern Division quarterfinals by the Parañaque Patriots in a three-game series.
