De La Salle University Green Archers forward Michael Phillips is hoping for another opportunity to play for the Gilas Pilipinas national men’s basketball team.
Phillips, who previously played for Gilas in the 2023 Southeast Asian Games in Cambodia, expressed that it would be a dream come true to represent the country once again in the future.
“Absolutely, that is one of my dreams,” Phillips said in an interview with DWAR Abante Radyo’s Sports Now program.
The 6-foot-8 Green Archers forward is not eligible to play for the national men’s basketball team as a local.
Phillips also expressed pride in his De La Salle teammates, Kevin Quiambao and Mason Amos, who are part of Gilas head coach Tim Cone’s pool of players.
“It is amazing; there is a pride in me as a Lasallian and also as a Filipino. I love to see them; they are the future of the Gilas; everybody is seeing their growth, especially Mason,” Phillips said.
“They have a heart of a Filipino; they have a heart that belongs to Gilas, and I just pray that they will continue to show what they have for the country,” he added. “I just love to support the Gilas; every time I am watching Gilas games, I am always proud; it is an amazing moment.”
