Capital1 Solar Spikers extended their winning streak to two games after outlasting ZUS Coffee Thunderbelles in five sets, 20-25, 25-17, 22-25, 25-20, 15-8, in the 2026-27 PVL All-Filipino Conference Siklab Series on Tuesday at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
The Solar Spikers improved to a 2-1 win-loss record after completing another grueling five-set encounter, while ZUS Coffee remained winless in two outings.
Mhicaela Belen once again led Capital1’s attack, delivering 29 points, 16 excellent digs and 15 excellent receptions for another triple-double performance.
The Thunderbelles took the opening set, but Capital1 responded in the second to level the match. The teams traded the next two frames, setting up a deciding set.
Both sides battled closely early in the fifth before Capital1 broke a 6-all deadlock with a 5-2 run, capped by a Julia Coronel attack that gave the Solar Spikers an 11-8 advantage.
Capital1 seized control from there, with Vanie Gandler and Erika Santos helping close out the match as the Solar Spikers scored the final four points to seal the victory.
The win marked Capital1’s third consecutive match to go the distance, but the team managed to finish strongly this time after previously struggling to close out a five-set contest against Choco Mucho.
Capital1 will seek its third straight victory when it faces PLDT on Saturday at the Filoil Centre in San Juan City.
ZUS Coffee, meanwhile, will try to break into the win column when it takes on unbeaten Creamline on the same day. (Adrian Co)
