Abueva traded to Converge after dominant season

The Converge FiberXers just made one of the loudest moves of the offseason, acquiring do-it-all forward Calvin Abueva in a multiplayer deal approved by the PBA Commissioner’s Office.

In exchange, Converge sent King Caralipio, Mark Omega, and Rey Suerte to Titan Ultra, reshaping both squads ahead of the next conference.

Abueva comes in fresh off a dominant Philippine Cup campaign where he put up 23.6 points, 11.9 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game numbers that made him a serious contender for the Best Player of the Conference award eventually won by June Mar Fajardo of the San Miguel Beermen.

For Converge, this isn’t just a talent pickup, it’s a reunion. Abueva links up again with longtime supporter Delta Pineda who has strong ties to the FiberXers’ program. That familiarity could play a key role in maximizing Abueva’s high-energy, high-impact style.

On the floor, Converge gets an all-around force who can score inside, crash the boards, defend multiple positions, and bring unmatched intensity every night. His presence instantly boosts the FiberXers’ toughness and gives them a proven game-changer in tight situations.

Meanwhile, Titan Ultra receives young pieces and additional depth as they continue to build their rotation moving forward. (JNV)
