Capital1 Solar Spikers opened their 2026 PVL All-Filipino Conference campaign with a convincing 25-17, 25-16, 15-25, 25-19 victory over ZUS Coffee Thunderbelles on Tuesday at the Playtime FilOil Centre in San Juan.
Bella Belen led the Solar Spikers with 26 points, built on 24 attacks and two aces, as Capital1 controlled three of the four sets to open their campaign on a winning note.
Capital1 quickly seized momentum, taking the first two sets behind balanced scoring and steady net defense. The Solar Spikers held ZUS Coffee to 17 and 16 points in the opening frames, forcing errors and capitalizing on transition plays.
The Thunderbelles responded in the third set, where they finally found rhythm and took advantage of Capital1 miscues to stay alive.
However, the Solar Spikers regained control in the fourth, pulling away late to seal the win. (AC)
