Cristiano Ronaldo nets two goals as Al Nassr edges past Al Ahli

Cristiano Ronaldo converted two goals as Al Nassr scored a 4-3 escape over Al Ahli in a battle of two powerhouse teams in the Saudi Pro League on Friday night (Saturday, Manila time) at the Al Awal Park of King Saud Stadium in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The Portuguese star opened the scoring for Al Nassr in the fourth minute with a low left-footed shot from a pass by teammate Sadio Mané. The lead was doubled in the 17th minute courtesy of a penalty kick by Anderson Talisca.

Al Ahli cut the deficit to 1-2 after a 30th-minute conversion from Franck Kessié, but Al Nassr managed to increase the lead to 3-1 at halftime as Talisca connected his second goal in the 45+6th minute via a strike.

Al Nassr’s advantage went up to 4-1 to start the second half, as Ronaldo completed his brace in the 52nd minute with a left-footer following a neat turn on the edge of the penalty box.

Al Ahri attempted to claw back with conversions from Riyad Mahrez from the penalty area in the 50th and from Feras Al-Brikan in the 87th, but could only come within a goal.

Both Al Nassr and Al Ahri are now tied with five wins and two losses after the game.
