Filipino pole vault star EJ Obiena will once again carry the nation’s hopes as he competes in the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo on September 13.
The Philippine Athletics Track and Field Association (PATAFA) confirmed his participation in an announcement on its social media pages.
“Already meeting the qualifying standard since last year, the World Championships silver medalist is once again ready to soar on the global stage,” PATAFA said.
Obiena, who placed fourth in the 2024 Paris Olympics—just an inch shy of a medal—aims to redeem himself with a podium finish.
Joining him is former Asian Championships gold medalist Robyn Lauren Brown, who will see action in the women’s 400-meter hurdles.
