Gilas Pilipinas to Quentin Millora-Brown: Show your Philippine passport

Gilas Pilipinas has called on University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons center Quentin Millora-Brown to present his Philippine passport to confirm his eligibility to play as a local for the national men’s basketball team.

Gilas team manager Alfrancis Chua stated that they want to ensure Millora-Brown’s eligibility before officially including him in the player pool of head coach Tim Cone.

“We need to see the passport first, like what happened to (Utah Jazz guard Jordan) Clarkson dati, ayaw naman naming mapahiya ang SBP (Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas),” Chua said in an interview with DWAR Abante Radyo’s Sports Now program.

“If he is eligible, why not di ba? Pero gusto muna namin makita kasi hindi namin alam eh, they are announcing na puwede siya maglaro, gusto namin makita then papacheck namin (sa SBP) bago namin i-submit (sa FIBA),” he added.

The 6-foot-10 Millora-Brown said in a previous interview that he is eligible to play as a local player for the Gilas Pilipinas after obtaining his Philippine passport before he turned 16 years old.

The one-and-done Fighting Maroons center will be an added boost for the Gilas Pilipinas’ frontline, which is led by June Mar Fajardo, Japeth Aguilar, AJ Edu, Kai Sotto, and Carl Tamayo.
