Kim Kianna Dy finds ‘Daylight’ in triumphant PVL comeback

While many hear Taylor Swift’s Daylight as a song about finding true love, for Kim Kianna Dy it has become the anthem of her hard-fought return to volleyball after more than a year of uncertainty.

After 559 days away from the taraflex, Dy is now a two-time Premier Volleyball League (PVL) champion. In both the 2025 PVL On Tour and the 2025 Invitational Conference, the 30-year-old opposite spiker sealed the championship point for the PLDT High Speed Hitters, standing as an impenetrable wall against their opponents’ attacks.

Taking a break from her usual lighthearted dance content, Dy turned to TikTok to share her journey using Daylight as a soundtrack.

Exactly two years ago, I was wearing a knee brace, not knowing when I’d be able to play again. Months went by, and people kept asking when I would return but honestly, I had no answer & wished I knew too. Being injured was one of if not the hardest challenge I’ve faced as an athlete. Sitting on the sidelines and not being able to help the team was one of the worst feelings ever. There were days when id get a glimpse of hope (to finally join court training!!) only to wake up the next day with a swollen knee.. lol.. it was tough 😭 But I knew I had to keep going because PLDT, my teammates, family and all our supporters were rooting and waiting for me. And here we are finally with two championships. What a journey it has been… and I’ve never been hungrier to go for more ❤️‍🔥

With her patience finally rewarded, Dy now enjoys her well-earned rest alongside her family, her boyfriend Dwight Ramos, and her two PVL crowns.

What were once tears of uncertainty have turned into triumph for the former De La Salle Lady Spiker.
