Retired eight-division world boxing champion Emmanuel “Manny” Pacquiao is exploring opportunities to enhance sports development and collaboration between the Philippines and Dubai.

Pacquiao met with key officials from the Dubai Sports Council (DSC), including His Excellency Saeed Mohamed Harib and His Excellency Sayed Hareb, to discuss potential partnerships.

The meeting focused on bringing exciting new sports events and academies to Dubai, particularly in boxing and basketball.

Pacquiao, the founder of the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL), also expressed his commitment to supporting the growth of sports in Dubai and the UAE, emphasizing the importance of nurturing talent and building a strong sports culture.

“We are excited about the prospects of working together with the Dubai Sports Council to bring world-class sports events and training programs to Dubai,” Pacquiao said in a statement on Monday.

“This collaboration will not only strengthen the ties between our countries but also provide new opportunities for aspiring athletes. We aim to nurture young talent and promote sports development in the region,” he added.

Pacquiao is currently in Dubai for the MPBL championship series between the Pampanga Giant Lanterns and the Quezon Huskers.
