Prime Marc Pingris was unstoppable, especially in 2013.
The “Pinoy Sakuragi” took to Facebook to reminisce the time where San Mig Coffee (now Magnolia Hotshots) won the 2013 PBA Governors’ Cup title against the Petron Blaze Boosters (now San Miguel Beermen).
“2013 Governor’s Cup Finals, San Mig Coffee vs. Petron Blaze. 30 secs. na lang nun kulang pa yata na block ko yung tira. Pagpasa kay Mark, shoot. Nanalo kami. MVP ako!” Pingris said.
The series reached up to Game 7, but Pingris led the team with 19 points, 17 rebounds and five blocks en route to his Finals MVP plum.
According to Pingris, it wasn’t pure luck but it was hard work that brought them to the championship.
“Sinabi ko dati… hindi swerte yung nangyari sa min kasi pinaghirapan namin yun. Swerte pag tumama sa lotto. Ito hindi eh kasi every day gumising kami nito, pinaghirapan namin to kaya kami naging champion.”
