Sometimes being a champion comes with its own challenges.
Chasing the thrill of another title, PLDT High Speed Hitters head coach Rald Ricafort is carefully evaluating potential imports for the upcoming 2025 Reinforced Conference.
After guiding the High Speed Hitters to back-to-back PVL championships, Ricafort acknowledged the pressure of maintaining the team’s dominance.
“Malaki pa rin ’yung load na gagampanan ng outside hitter. Regardless, kung sino mang outside sa locals o i-convert, for sure mapapagana naman,” the 2025 PVL On Tour and Invitational Conference champion tactician said in an interview.
He also addressed social media rumors about high-caliber recruits joining rival teams.
“’Yun nga may mga lumalabas na possible imports ng mga kalaban. Hindi talaga siya magiging madali, kasi lahat [ng nakikita] high-caliber na eh. Definitely, magiging malaking challenge talaga sa amin,” Ricafort added.
PLDT finished fourth in the 2024 Reinforced Conference with 6-foot-4 Russian Elena Samoilenko leading the team. Now, the High Speed Hitters are focused on finding the right import to help them chase a third consecutive league title.
