Indonesian MBT defeats Aussie club team in friendly; should Gilas be worried?

The Indonesian men’s basketball team showed that it still has the firepower to retain the Southeast Asian Games gold medal.

The Indonesia squad flexed its muscles with a 113-98 dominance over Australian club Districts Spartans in a friendly game in Australia as part of their tuneup for the SEA Games.

American-Indonesian Anthony Beane, who is tipped to lead Indonesia’s attack in the SEA Games next month in Cambodia, led the way for the Indons with 23 points, four rebounds, and two assists.

Indonesia snatched the SEA Games gold medal from Gilas Pilipinas last year with a stunning victory on the final day of the biennial event held in Hanoi, Vietnam.

Gilas Pilipinas wanted to avenge the stunning defeat in the upcoming SEA Games, but they have yet to have a complete practice with just less than a month before the event.

The Indonesians had started their training camp in Australia earlier this month and were about to wrap up their preparation for the gold medal retention bid.
