The University of Santo Tomas Growling Tigers have bolstered their roster with the addition of another guard.
According to a report by Rappler’s Naveen Ganglani, Filipino-American guard John Abate has recently committed to joining the Growling Tigers.
The 6-foot-1 baller from Orange Park, Florida, is eligible to play for two years with the Growling Tigers as he is pursuing a master’s degree at UST.
Abate is characterized as “a versatile shooter, proficient both on and off the ball, and possesses the athleticism to be a potent weapon in transition.”
During his time at Spring Hill College, Abate recorded an average of 6.5 points per game, displaying impressive shooting splits of 43 percent from the field, 40 percent from beyond the arc, and 79 percent from the free-throw line.
Additionally, Abate is the biological son of former PBA player John Arigo.
